The Wood Place began as a small hobby workshop where two friends explored their love for crafting & woodworking. What started as a weekend pastime quickly grew into a thriving community dedicated to sharing the art of “creating” with wood (& other materials as well!). Today, we’re proud to be a fully Malaysian team, crafting quality solid wood furniture and offering woodworking experiences that bring people together.

Read on below to know more about some of the things we do & the values that we carry.

01
We are..

Proudly Malaysian, Proudly Local

Every piece we make is built by dedicated Malaysian craftsmen & craftswomen using locally- & sustainably- sourced wood wherever possible. By choosing us, you’re supporting homegrown skills, sustainable materials, and a vision to keep the spirit of woodworking & creating alive in Malaysia.

Our team, based in Kelana Jaya, Selangor, builds solid wood furniture. We work on our inhouse designs, as well as customized furniture designs too.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to try your hands at woodworking, or just someone who wants to build something special and create memories, our Build Together Workshops and private woodworking sessions are here for you!

02
If you're wondering..

What We Do & Why We Do It?

We believe furniture should be more than functional—it should carry meaning. Whether you buy a handcrafted piece from our workshop or build your own alongside us, you’re creating something special. Every curve, joint, and finish (or mistake!) tells a story of the process it went through & the memories created by its existence.

Step into our workshop, pick up a tool, and discover the joy of making. Whether you’re furnishing your home or learning a new skill, The Wood Place invites you to celebrate craftsmanship and creativity—Malaysian-made, for everyone.

03
The Reason Behind Using

Locally- & Sustainably-Sourced Solid Wood

We focus on using locally and sustainably sourced solid wood to reduce our environmental footprint and support responsible forestry practices. Most of our Malaysian hardwoods—such as nyatoh, jelutong, kembang semangkuk (KSK), melunak, mersawa, meranti, etc.—are sourced from PEFC-certified suppliers, ensuring they come from responsibly managed forests. While we occasionally work with plywood, pine, and other materials, our commitment is to highlight Malaysian timber wherever possible.

We also use rubberwood, a by-product of the latex industry. It is considered a highly sustainable choice as it repurposes plantation trees that have reached the end of their latex-producing life, giving new value to a resource that would otherwise go to waste.

After rubber trees spend 20–30 years of their lives producing latex, instead of being discarded or burned, these trees are given a second life as beautiful, durable wood. Because the plantations are already established for latex, using rubberwood doesn’t contribute to deforestation and makes efficient use of land and resources. It’s an eco-friendly, affordable option that turns what would be waste into timeless furniture—making it a smart, responsible choice for your home too.
